During the course students learn the basic concepts and theories related to SME exports and internationalisation. Attendance at the first lecture is obligatory.

Osaamistavoitteet

After the course the students are familiar with the business environment, operations, strategic choices and behaviour of internationalizing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). During the course a commissioned group assignment, a real-life internationalization plan, will be prepared to a case company. The assignment consists of information searching, problem solving and making of justified strategic and operational suggestions to the case company following its internationalization aims.

Opintosuoritukset

Participation in classroom work, group assignment + written exam. During the course a commissioned group assignment will be conducted to a case company. The groups for the assignment will be formed during the first lecture. Please note that the group assignment requires commitment, as a real-life internationalization plan is to be drafted for the case company in a limited amount of time.

Opetus

Lectures 12 h. The course consists of six two-hour lectures that are organized once a week, corresponding to altogether 12 hours of lectures. **Spring semester 2019, period IV (18 March - 5 May 2019)** The course in arranged as integrated into degree studies and lectures take place during the day (Mon-Fri, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m). Lectures are organised at Turku School of Economics (Rehtorinpellonkatu 3) **Exam** Course includes a compulsory exam. Exams are taken electronically through the Electronic Exam service. E-exam reservation can be made 30 days before exam. E-exam rooms are located in Turku, Pori, Rauma.
