The aim of the course is to develop students' knowledge and understanding of international business core theories related to planning, organisation, implementation and control of business operations from a management perspective. The students' readiness to analyse and apply this knowledge in real-life type situations is also developed through case work. After completing the course the students are able to: (1) describe and explain challenges imposed on business decision makers operating in an international business context, (2) explain and compare related courses of action regarding internationalisation, market selection and entry, and the organization and management of international business operations, (3) analyse the strategic choices, operations and organisation of given situations, (4) apply theories, frameworks and tools of international business strategy to develop a plan of action for a real-life situation and context of a given case organisation, (5) communicate the findings and recommendations in international business management in a convincing, professional way.
The total student workload (160h) consists of: 2 h of introductory lectures 18 h of seminars and tutoring with the course supervisor, including final presentations of the case reports 100 h of Independent case work in teams (finding literature, group meetings, Information gathering, analysis, writing the report) 8 h preparation of presentation of the case work 32 h preparation and taking the exam Course materials, schedules and reports will be saved in Moodle. Enroll in KV1 in Moodle before the course starts.
Introductory lecture 2 hours per seminar group. Seminars and tutoring 18 hours per seminar group. Detailed instructions will be given through Moodle. **Autumn semester 2019, period II (28 October - 8 December 2019)** The course in arranged as integrated into degree studies and lectures take place during the day (Mon-Fri, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m). (Open university students follow the timetable of **Group 3**) **Notice!** Compensation of absence from seminars required. Attendance is mandatory at the first meeting. Lectures are organised at Turku School of Economics (Rehtorinpellonkatu 3) **Exam** Course includes a compulsory exam (three optional exam dates unless otherwise noted). The first exam is lecture hall exam and two others can be taken electronically through the Electronic Exam service. The date of lecture hall exam is published in the Nettiopsu of the Open University (Avoimen yliopiston Nettiopsu). Register to take the lecture hall exam at the latest 7 days before the exam date in the Nettiopsu of the Open University. The exam room will be announced 30 min before the exam on the info board in the main lobby of the Turku School of Economics. Electronic exam periods are: 16.1.-23.1.2020 and 5.3.-12.3.2020 E-exam rooms are located in Turku, Pori, Rauma. E-exam reservation can be made 30 days before exam.
