This course develops an understanding of how firm growth is managed and what factors influence it. Students will examine these issues through case studies, talks given by guest speakers and the lectures. The course introduces perspectives that focus on the nature of growth and challenges of entrepreneurial businesses as they move beyond startup. Further, students will also practice their research, team and project management and presentation skills during this course.
After attending this course students are able to analyse and explain how firms grow and what various factor influence firm growth. Similarly, students will develop their skills in recognising the individual- and firm-level as well as societal factors affecting firm's development from a start-up to an established business. Moreover, this course will develop students' knowledge in defining the challenges related to managing firm growth.

24 h of lectures and group work exercise(s). **Spring semester 2020, period III (7 January - 16 February 2020)** The course in arranged as integrated into degree studies and lectures take place during the day (Mon-Fri, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m). Lectures are organized at the Turku School of Economics (Rehtorinpellonkatu 3) **Exam** Course includes a compulsory exam. Exams are taken electronically through the Electronic Exam service. The students are chosen in registration order. Registration is binding and cannot be cancelled after student has signed the registration form or has paid the payment for studies. Paid payments for studies are not refunded, with exception of cancelation of the studies due to an insufficient number of participants or for another reason connected to the functions of the Open University, or due to an illness of the student preventing his/her studying, in which case an informal written appeal, together with a doctor's or nurse's certificate, must be made to tStudent services secretary. Right to study cannot be transferred to another study module or unit except in the case that the Open University has to cancel the studies to which the student has enrolled due to an insufficient number of participants. The right to study cannot be transferred to another person either. For any additional information, please contact Student services secretary.
Payment for studies should be paid within 24 hours after the registration using online bank or otherwise the registration is cancelled. In case an online net bank payment is not possible, the student must contact Student services secretary in advance before registration (we charge 15 euros extra for paper invoice).
