During the course the students learn in lectures and team meetings how futures-oriented business intelligence can be applied to create and shape markets. The students work on pre- and post-assignments individually and in teams to enforce and reflect their learning. The assignments are designed to learn about: 1) business intelligence 2) market creation and shaping 3) futures research methods in understanding changing business environment
After the course a student knows how to observe changes in the global business environment. A student also knows the basics of market creation and market shaping. A student knows how to apply futures research methods to collect and interpret data to understand and drive changes in international markets. The course has an important role in helping students to become tomorrow's global leaders by showing how foresight can be embedded in business intelligence. This enables students to see how companies can influence markets by having a systemic understanding of a changing business environment.
Lectures, team meetings and exercises
Lectures 12 h, group work, independent work. **Spring semester 2020, period IV (16 March - 3 May 2020)** The course in arranged as integrated into degree studies and lectures take place during the day (Mon-Fri, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m). The final grade is based on individual assignments (50 %) and group assignments (50 %)

The students are chosen in registration order. Registration is binding and cannot be cancelled after student has signed the registration form or has paid the payment for studies. Paid payments for studies are not refunded, with exception of cancelation of the studies due to an insufficient number of participants or for another reason connected to the functions of the Open University, or due to an illness of the student preventing his/her studying, in which case an informal written appeal, together with a doctor's or nurse's certificate, must be made to Student services secretary. Right to study cannot be transferred to another study module or unit except in the case that the Open University has to cancel the studies to which the student has enrolled due to an insufficient number of participants. The right to study cannot be transferred to another person either. For any additional information, please contact Student services secretary.
Payment for studies should be paid within 24 hours after the registration using online bank or otherwise the registration is cancelled. In case an online net bank payment is not possible, the student must contact Student services secretary in advance before registration (we charge 15 euros extra for paper invoice).
