Learning outcomes

During the course, students get an overview of the history of Roman law, its main principles (e.g. procedure, legal profession, sources) and of its nexus with society. They will learn to analyse how Roman law has been used by societies in various times and by various groups. Students will learn problem-solving, oral presentation, argumentation and teamwork skills, and they will students learn to write different kinds of texts (summaries, book reviews, summary on legal arguments and counter arguments, essays/theses).

Course Attendance Policy


Please observe that due to the course structure, a maximum of two absences only - for acceptable reasons - can be allowed (one lecture and one seminar). If there are more than one absence, substitute assignments will be required.



Enrollment for Specialisation courses in Nettiopsu. Degree students of the Faculty of Law have priority in the selections.
