Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, students should be able to:
outline the main mechanisms that produce and accelerate relativistic particles in the Universe,
and affect very high-energy (VHE) photons and particles in the space and in the atmosphere.
outline the main observational techniques used at the different fields of astroparticle physics;
understand and perform simple calculations connected to kinematics of the particle interaction;
compute threshold energies and estimate the cross sections;
outline the Galactic and extragalactic sources of VHE photons and cosmic rays;
outline how astroparticle physics can be used to study fundamental physics questions, in particular the question of Dark Matter;
give a presentation on currently working astroparticle physics experiments and to describe main scientific results that they have produced;
read, understand and be able to answer questions on scientific refereed articles in the field of astroparticle physics.
