Learning outcomes

After completing the course the student will be able to apply plasma physics in several astrophysical scenarios. The student will obtain further understanding and quantitative analysis skills on topics introduced on Introduction to plasma physics, in particular in kinetic plasma physics. In addition, the student will have an understanding of astrophysical collisionless shocks and magnetic reconnection, particle transport and acceleration in astrophysical plasmas, (weak) plasma turbulence and the plasma emission mechanism, as well as numerical methods to study them.
