Course content: The course is designed to give an advanced perspective of terms and practices in art and visual culture regarding concepts of authenticity, originality and culture of a copy. It will improve the received knowledge from the level I (one) course and convey with more specific issues in dealing with authenticity, originality and fakes within various art objects as case studies.
The agenda of the course is planed to provide a critical investigation constituted by the theoretical and practical work, making an extensive insight into the present views of authenticity, originality and variations in the realm of copies, including the concepts of art replication and illegal practices that often follow such production.
Certain sessions will take part at the museums and conservation studios in Turku while for some lectures we will have visiting professor or other experts from the fields of art history, conservation and restoration due to the theme of the session.
Language of teaching will be primarily in English. Essays will be accepted in English and Finnish.

Evaluation: The course will be evaluated by essay writing (2000-3000 words, line spacing: 1.5; font: Times New Roman; font size: 12). For further information and remarks of criteria used, participants should take part of Moodle program. Enrolment key will be given at the first lesson to the final number of the participants.
