Learning outcomes

The student becomes aware of the potential differences between game and videogame artifacts and learns to approach them from a variety of theoretical perspectives.

General description

Theory of games and videogames.

The content is different from “The Forms of the Videogame in Media.” Students who participated that course can thus attend as well.

Presentation, group discussion, readings (including game and videogame play). Students are also given the option to earn credits and get feedback from writings.

Type or level of studies:  Basic studies / intermediate studies

The first part of the course is fixed basic studies. The second part of the course is intermediate studies with focus on topics that serve the research interests of students. 10-12 students will be selected for the latter part based on their research insterests.

Media Studies A2.a, A2.b, A2.c, A2.d, S1.a, S1.b, S3. Other modules possible too. Ask.

If you are not a Media Studies student, ask. We will figure something out.


 The maximum capacity is 20 students.
