Learning outcomes

Kindly note that these courses are available in academic year 2016-2017. In the academic year 2017-2018 The Faculty of Social Sciences offers the study module of Finnish and Nordic Society and Culture in English.

Book exams in Sociology are available until 31 October 2017.


The courses on sociology are dividid into three parts: The first part concerns history and classics of sociology. The second part includes courses that deals with social structures, inequalities and policies. It includes courses about social inequality, population and families, health, society and health policy as well as politics and globalisation. The third part concerns communities, culture and sexuality. It includes courses about cultures and lifestyles, gender and sexuality, multiculturalism and racism as well as communities and localities.


Curriculum on the courses taught in English in Sociology consists following modules:

-History and classics of sociology, 6 ECTS

-Social structures, inequalities and politics, 3-12 ECTS

-Communities, culture and sexuality, 3-12 ECTS
