Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to give an overview of forensic psychology and issues related to expert witnesses. The course will end with a mock trial with the students in either the role of an expert or a lawyer.


The topics addressed in the mock trial cover the most important types of forensic pschological assessments: forensic psychiatric evaluations, child sexual abuse evaluations, dangerousness assessments and evaluations related to eye witnessing.

Lectures, home work and a mock trial.
First lecture and the seminars are compulsory.

Evaluation and evaluation criteria

Numeric 0-5.
Written examination of a book regarding forensic psychology (1/3 of the final grade). Preparation for and participation in the mock trial (1/3 of the final grade). Codification of questions taken from an interview extract (1/3 of the final grade).
