Learning outcomes

The student understands the basic laws of the most fundamental physical theory: quantum mechanics. He/She is familiar with the link between information and physical systems at the quantum level. The student masters both the basic mathematical framework of quantum theory and the associated physical concepts such as wave-particle duality, uncertainty relations, quantum superpositions and entanglement.


The carriers of information at classical and quantum level: bits and quantum bits (qubits). Two-level quantum systems and quantum interferometry. States and observables. The Schrödinger equation and quantum dynamics. Quantum entanglement and nonlocality. Free particle dynamics, quantum harmonic oscillator, particle in a potential well. Spin and rotations. Elements of perturbation theory. Manybody systems.
