Learning outcomes

After the course, students have gained a general understanding on the business opportunities and risks in Eastern Europe. Through independent analyses, students have specialized in real cases and are able to evaluate business opportunities from the perspective of an individual company.


The course gives an overview of the investment opportunities in Eastern Europe. A particular emphasis is placed on the market development in Belarus, Ukraine and Russia. In addition to lectures, the course contains a large analytical group work on a given case topic.

The final grade of the course is based on the exam (40%), the course work (40%), and the regular and active participation in the lectures (20%). Attendance of at least 1/4 of lectures and at the final lecture is obligatory.
