Learning outcomes

International mergers and acquisitions (M&A) represent an important strategy for growth, internationalization and acquiring new capabilities, resources or knowledge. This course tackles international M&As from both the macro-economic and micro-economic perspective. On one hand, this course focuses on the reasons behind this phenomenon and the M&A strategies from the international business perspective. On the other hand, this course has a special emphasis on the managerial and socio-cultural aspects of the post-acquisition integration phase.

Based on the learning objectives the students obtain a deeper understanding of the reasons behind this phenomenon and learn to apply critically various M&A approaches, evaluate the motives and strategies, as well as the specific needs related to the integration process on real-life cases both during the lecture and in their written assignment. In addition, the students acquire the capability to independently recommend and design an M&A strategy for managers. This course aims also at improving students’ ability to debate during classes and writing in an academic manner.
