Learning outcomes

After the course students will be familiar with sustainable development, globalisation, corporate (social) responsibility and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of UN. Students will understand their contents and the kind of possibilities and challenges they set for companies.

Contents

Corporate (social) responsibility is the main framework for companies to respond to the global challenges and uneven development. On this course the theme will be considered from the standpoint of MDGs and much emphasis will be put on developing countries. (See further information on the course web page.)

The course consists of discussions in forum and written assignments. Individual assignments can also be done in Finnish.

Further information

The course is part of the Finnish Universities' Partnership for International Development (UniPid) co-operation. Attendance is restricted to 70 students. In case of excess demand, priority is given to students majoring in economic geography. The theme of corporate (social) responsibility will be further discussed in TM23 and TMS2.
