Learning outcomes

After the course the students understand the different roles and contents of marketing based on differences in firms' marketing capabilities and objectives, and know how to create value through marketing innovations.

Contents

The course aims at increasing the students' understanding of the different role and content of marketing in firms at different phases of their growth and development as well as in different market situations. The marketing is approached both from resource-based and behavioral perspectives. The resource-based view is relevant especially in small firms and firms at their early life-cycle stage looking at the firms' marketing capabilities. Marketing is also approached from innovative point of view that challenges the traditional marketing conventions in the industry aiming at the firm's growth and success.

Teaching methods

Lectures and discussion seminars 12 h (2 h/week, Hurmerinta).

Modes of study

The final grade is based on the exam (50 %), the written group assignments (40 %), and regular and active participation in the lectures and seminar discussions (10 %).
