General description

The course emphasises practicing communicational skills and enriching of vocabulary. The communication skills will be improved by discussions and written exercises as well as reading and listening comprehension exercises. Attention is also paid to spoken Finnish.

Learning outcomes

After the course the student can use basic sentences with memorised phrases, groups of words of the below mentioned themes and formulate in order to communicate limited information in simple everyday situations. The student can answer easy questions and respond to simple statements.

Contents

The course will cover at least the following themes: home (house and rooms); furnishing and furniture; professions and working places; travelling (vehicles and time tables); food and eating; shopping (buying and paying); family and relatives; leisure time and free-time activities; some of the most common forms of colloquial Finnish.
