Learning outcomes

The aim is to help the doctoral candidate recognize that in economics a large number of points of view and methods are used while explaining economic phenomena. The doctoral candidate learns central ideas in selected approaches, some of their research results as well as fundamentals of economic methodology. An aim is also to find ideas for one's dissertation, irrespective of the major subject.


Twelve articles that represent various schools of economic thought or discuss economic methodology.

The course constitutes of six assignments and, where necessary, additional assignments that are given and commented through email. If an assignment is failed the course can be completed through a written exam only in exceptional cases.
