Learning outcomes

By the end of the course students will have
- considered and discussed the major theories of Intercultural Communication
- given a presentation on a particular theory
- provided practical examples from group research work on diversity in the work place
- considered the role of language in intercultural communication
- considered the main skills necessary for ICC from a global human resource perspective and as prospective managers
- have written and presented a paper on an aspect of ICC from both a theoretical and practical perspective

The course includes conceptual issues - the nature of culture and intercultural interaction competence as well as the impact of language and culture on communication In addition practical applications such as how competence in intercultural interaction can be developed and dealt with.
