Learning outcomes

The course gives the necessary skills and knowledge to plan, prepare, conduct, and report usability tests within laboratory settings.

Contents

The course consists of two parts:

A. The students read and take an examination on the book Barnum, C.M. Usability Testing Essentials: Ready, Set…Test!, Morgan Kaufmann, 2011. See e-exam service (https://tenttis.utu.fi/) and Moodle for the schedule and the set of questions .

B. After passing the exam, the students can begin the empirical part, i.e. plan and carry out a usability test using the laboratory facilities of the Work Informatics User Experience (WIUX) Laboratory. This empirical part is done in groups of two students. The empirical part is scheduled by the group.

In order to pass the course, the student must pass both the part A and the part B.
