Preceding studies
Completion of the course LR03 Rahoituksen perusteet (Introduction to Finance) or equivalent is recommended. Course is suitable for students interested in international finance and investments, responsible business, and expert services marketing.

Learning outcomes

Students will learn the key contemporary ethical issues in finance and responsible investing. The course is very practically oriented, where students have to identify ethical problems presented in financial articles included in their assignments, analyze them, and propose alternative ways to deal with them. The course will also familiarize students with the international financial press and help them to read articles in it with a critical mind.

Contents

The topics covered include different approaches to assess ethical behavior, role of law and self-regulation vs. ethical behavior, moral hazard and incentive mechanisms in finance, information asymmetry, agency conflicts, responsible and ethical investing.
