Good knowledge of ESO-related space research and astronomy using optical, near-infrared and radio wavelengths.

Introduction to ESO telescopes and instrumentation, e.g.,
La Silla, Paranal, APEX, VST, VISTA, ALMA, E-ELT, and instruments like SOFI, EFOSC2, HARPS, WFI, CRIRES, FLAMES, HAWK-1, FORS, VISIR, SINFONI, ISAAC, UVES, VIMOS, NACO, AMBER, MIDI, X-Shooter, VLTI, SHFI, LABOCA, and SABOCA. Basic facts about proposal writing and observing tools.
Highlights of discoveries and science with each telescope/instrument.
