Learning outcomes

During the course, the student will gain knowledge about important concepts and topics related to biological diversity and will become familiar with recent research and possible controversies in these topics.

Contents

Themes covered include (but are not restricted to) international treaties that concern biodiversity, how to quantify biodiversity, global diversity trends, biodiversity hotspots, invasive species and sustainable forest management.

Teaching methods

Presentation given by student groups and discussions on the presented topic. Everyone is expected to read the provided background material before the presentations and to make at least one question to the presenting group.
