Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is that the students understand the basic concepts and methods of geoinformatics in various spatial and cartographic applications in the society. These include remote sensing, map projections, coordinate systems, positioning technologies, databases, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and cartographic communication. The student knows where geographical data can be obtained, is able to evaluate the quality and content of the data sets and knows how to use them, including interpretation, storage, queries, analyses and presentation of geographical information visually and numerically.
