Learning outcomes

To understand the design flow of modern digital systems and to learn principles of embedded systems design methods, different trade-offs, system optimization methods and system testing and simulation methods.

Contents

Design flow of digital system-on-chip (SoC) using hardware description languages and computer aided design (CAD) tools including the Design for Testability (DFT). Following design methodologies are presented after the basic design flow is described: low-power design techniques, communication structures (buses, network-on-chip), IP-blocks and platforms. Finally, the properties of embedded systems and the principles of hardware/software co-design are presented.
