General description

On this course, the communication skills needed to function well in working life are discussed and practiced through various exercises. Conversational and speaking skills will be stressed.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course the students should
- be familiar with the job application process;
- be able to produce an effective CV and cover letter;
- be able to communicate effectively in working life situations, including interviews, presentations, meetings and negotiations;
- have expanded their vocabulary on education and working life.

Contents

Some topics covered on the course are:
- the job application process: CV, cover letter, interviews;
- meetings and negotiations;
- oral communication in the working life, including small talk and presentations;
- written communication in the working life, including e-mails and reports;
- effective communication in a multicultural working environment;
- vocabulary related to education and working life.
