General description

To develop confidence and fluency in using English to discuss literary texts.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- discuss short literary texts more freely
- give a short presentation on a text/author of their choice

Contents

- Texts such as poetry, short stories, song lyrics, film extracts and one-act plays from not only the English-speaking world but also from other cultures translated into English will be discussed.
- Presentation skills,
- Discussion, translation and playreading are examples of communication skills tasks to be practised.
- This is not a lecture course.
- Students are invited to participate in the planning of the course, and ideas are welcome at any stage of the course.
