General description

Negotiation skills and meetings covers the key principles and language of negotiations and social interaction in general. Simulated negotiation and meeting tasks will be carried out in small groups. Self-study material will supplement classroom practice.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course students:
- know the style and structure of negotiations and different types of meetings
- are aware of the differences between formal and informal meeting discourse
- are aware of their own negotiation style
- understand the importance of active listening and how to listen effectively
- can participate in different types of meeting and negotiations
- recognize the potential impact of culture on negotiation styles
- can use effective language for chairing
- have actively practiced and participated in negotiations and meetings covering a wide spectrum of topics
