General description

The course does not aim to be an authoritative guide to the EU, but instead aims to cover a wide variety of EU-related issues which will be used as sources for the language and terminology.

Learning outcomes

- The students become familar with the EU as a concept and the institutions that form its core structure
- The students learn the terminology in use - both pronunciation and meaning
- The students gain confidence in discussing EU-related topics in small groups
- The students are familiar with the current issues of importance in EU affairs

Contents

- The students learn about the basic functioning of the EU through official publications by the EU itself
- Each week, the students read articles on a given subject from the European Voice newspaper
- The students' vocabulary regarding EU terminology is expanded
- The students make one presentation each in the later part of the course on an EU subject of interest to them
- The students' pronunciation and use of grammar is monitored and feedback is provided
