General description

The course covers a variety of writing and tasks that are often needed in applying for either study or work abroad. Discussion including adapting to a new culture is also included.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, studentsshould:
- be able to write a Europass CV and Language Passport;
- be able to write a statement of purpose;
- be able to write different kinds of letters;
- be able to take different tests of English if relevant;
- be able to use English academic writing conventions if relevant;
- be able to discuss more fluently.

Contents

- Part of the course will be practical
- writing CV, letter of application, statement of purpose;
- practising English language tests (TOEFL,Cambridge exams etc.);
- introduction to academic writing etc.;
- discussion on topics such as coping with difference/change, culture shock, and re-entry shock.
- participants can take part in deciding the content of the course according to their needs.
