General description

This course is primarily intended to provide students with an opportunity to develop and strengthen their oral skills.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course students should:
- be more confident in group discussion situations
- be able to communicate more spontaneously, fluently, and clearly in group discussions and debates
- be better able to participate in group problem solving
- be able to employ critical thinking skills in problem solving

Contents

- participating in class activities emphasizing vocabulary, fluency, and confidence building
- developing strategies for effective discussion and debating
- participation in discussions and debates in pairs and small groups based on a range of political, social, economic and cultural issues

Preference will be given to social science students; other students may join the course if there is room.
