Completion of the course LR05 Rahoituksen jatkokurssi (Intermediate Finance) or equivalent is recommended. This course is suitable for students interested in corporate finance, financial services marketing, debt markets or international finance.

Learning outcomes

Students will learn to combine financial statement and business model analysis for business, corporate credit and debt capacity analysis. Students will learn the role of the corporate capital structure, different debt instruments and their markets as well as the key players and relationships in corporate funding.

Contents

The topics covered include capital structure and its components, different uses of debt, different corporate debt funding models, debt instruments and markets, institutions in debt markets, corporate credit analysis, and corporate debt capacity analysis.

Lectures 18 h in English (intensively in four session during IV period, guest lecturer), classroom discussion, written assignments (in teams), and students' presentations. This is a very intensive course which requires active classroom participation and preparation of the assignments for each class.
