Learning outcomes

The student understands holistically enterprise and the interdependencies of different business functions as well as the role of strategy in business management. The student understands the deep leadership framework, can prepare a business plan, and apply different management tools and techniques learned earlier in practice.

Contents

The course provides an opportunity to practice strategic thinking and management as well as leadership skills in multicultural setting. The course conveys holistic understanding of business functions and their interdependencies as well as practices to take into account the multidimensional competitive environment including variable customer needs, characteristics of market areas, the development of technology, and the actions of competitors. The students also learn teamwork under time pressure and.

The course consists of interactive lectures focusing on strategy and leadership skills through deep leadership framework as well as an intensive SIMBU business simulation game.

Teaching methods

Intensive course with obligatory participation 28 h: 2h lectures (Töyli), 6h deep leadership lecture (n.n.), and 20h intensive business game session (Töyli) (2 groups).

Teams of four students compete against each other in the simulation. Decisions are made in computer lab during supervised sessions. The assessment includes business plan, business game, and written de-briefing report.
