General description

The course is not offered in academic year 2015-2016.

Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to familiarise doctoral candidates with the rhetoric of science related to various methodological approaches, data collection and data analysis methods. The idea is not to study singular
methods in depth but to learn how to design scientific inquiry and to argue for methodological choices.

Doctoral candidates write independently two reports in which he/she analyses methodological choices of two doctoral dissertations accepted in Finland or other European country (written in English). One of the reports will be presented in a seminar. In addition to writing the reports learning will be based on interaction, i.e. comments and discussions in the two-day seminar.
