Organizational behavior (OB) is a broad field encompassing sociology, psychology and anthropology of human action in organizational contexts, as well as the applied debate on how to best manage and lead people at work. This advanced level course aims to provide an overview of organizational behavior both as a general social science perspective on organizations and organizing, and as an array of topics and practical issues pertinent to understanding and managing the conduct and interaction of individuals and groups in organizations.

Contents

The course will chart the trajectory of the field of organizational behavior and its recent currents in three parts:
1)Classical and contemporary theories of organizational behavior; discussing the multidisciplinary background of OB as a scholarly field.
2)Central topics and issues within organizational behavior; reviewing the state-of-the-art knowledge on key OB themes such as motivation, commitment, well-being, change and leadership.
3)Emerging debates in OB; introducing the latest approaches and themes in the theory and practice of organizational behavior.
