Learning outcomes

The course shows an understanding of major aspects of bilingualism at the societal level: language maintenance and shift in multilingual communities, language attitudes, intercultural communication, factors promoting bilingualism.

Contents

This is an introductory course to the study of bilingualism from a cognitive, neural, developmental and sociolinguistic perspective. The learning outcomes of the course is as follows: -show an understanding of major aspects of bilingualism at the individual level: definitions of bilingualism, neurocognition of bilingualism, becoming bilingual at early vs. later stage of development, psycholinguistic aspects of bilingualism, cognitive consequences of being bilingual.
