Learning outcomes

The course gives a good understanding of different qualitative research methods in the field of entrepreneurship and innovative business research. The objective is to give an overview of various qualitative research methods and their possible applications in a doctoral dissertation and beyond in post doc research and publications. The focus is on reviewing and applying qualitative methodology in entrepreneurship research. As a result of the course the students will be able to better identify different types of qualitative entrepreneurship research and to understand different ways of crafting journal articles applying qualitative methods. This will help them to continue with their own analyses in their qualitative research projects as well as reporting and publishing their work

The course consists of two parts. The first part deals with analyzing and reviewing research articles applying qualitative methods. Each student will review at least one published article and conduct a peer review of a working-in-process paper of another student attending the course. This will be done prior to the actual sessions.
During the sessions different ways of reporting qualitative research and crafting qualitative papers will be discussed. In addition, the reviews will be discussed. Finally, each student will receive feedback from the peers and the course organizers on their own work.
The second part deals with practical case work where the students aim to improve their work-in-process papers based on the reviews and learning derived from the course. The course will be completed by submitting the revised paper and a case report where personal reflections and evaluation is essential.
