The knowledge of Fourier transforms and basics of emission mechanisms are obligatory prerequisites.

Learning outcomes

Basic knowledge of radio astronomy and interferometric imaging. Ability to propose (select instrument, integration time, and basic setup for an observation), observe, and reduce single dish and interferometric data (ALMA CASA, radioheliographs). Basic knowledge of solar dynamic spectra.


Basics of radio astronomy, methods of analysis, and research at wavelengths ranging from sub-millimeter to kilometer waves. Theory and practice of interferometric imaging, with emphasis on VLBI and solar data analysis. The course contains a number of demanding computer exercises and data analysis tasks.
