Learning outcomes

Aim of the course is to learn ca. 100 common Finnish bryophyte species.


The course consists of lectures on ecology, phylogeny and morphology of bryophytes, practicals on species identification and field excursions (1st week), and independent work on fresh specimens that will be available in bryophyte exhibition in seminar room (2nd week). We will concentrate on field identification, but course will also include basics on microscopic characters that are commonly used for species identification in bryophytes.
