Learning outcomes

The objective of the course is to introduce the latest IS research on computer games to the students. Although computer games are in many ways similar to other information systems, they also differ especially from organizational or business systems due to their entertainment value and voluntary use.

Contents

Leading Finnish IS research on computer games are presented on this course by the specialists themselves. The content of the course differs from year to year based on the availability of (especially, but not limited to Finnish) computer game IS researchers and on the latest developments in the field. The course is not meant as an introduction to computer games development - please participate in Guest Lecture Series on Game Development (available only in Finnish) in the IT-department by Jouni Smed for that.
