Learning outcomes

The security of information systems is vital in current business environment. Critical information must be kept securely in the organization and organizational information systems have to be continuously operating, in order to survive in the competitive environment. The student will learn the basics of information security management of an organization, how organizations manage and plan for IT service continuity etc. Students will also learn to solve and discuss practical security and continuity related problems in case discussion sessions, where both real and fictional cases are used.

Contents

Passing the course requires 1) individual preparation for and discussion activity on weekly case discussions, 2) weekly group discussion on given articles and lectures as well as reporting these discussions and 3) weekly activity in essay writing on a course related topic.
Each part is graded weekly. Some activities that will be graded can start even before the first lecture, and all information related to the course will be communicated via the course Moodle page. The essay will be written to Moodle Wiki as a group (with a subsection for each group member) and solve a research question. Course Moodle page is open, where more information on the course can be found. Only weekly group discussions can be compensated later with an e-exam or some other teacher given task
The student has to get 50 % of the points in order to pass the course.

Restricted attendance of 60 students! TSE degree students majoring in information systems science and Master's Programme in Information Security and Cryptography students are given priority.
