Learning outcomes

The student is familiar with different thermal analysis methods and acquires a readiness to use thermoanalytical methods in her/his own research. The student is capable of interpreting thermoanalytical data and is aware of the pitfalls in the analyses.

Contents

The course deals with processes taking place during the heating of materials as well as the physical and chemical meaning of these processes. Thermogravimetry, differential thermal analysis and differential scanning calorimetry are discussed in detail as experimental techniques. A wide range of other thermoanalytical techniques will also be introduced.
