Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to enable students to develop an individual and conscious understanding on a specific location and its institutional environment, emphasizing for instance on the cross-cultural dimension. Students develop their own approach to analyze a new environment and to evaluate the process of immersing into it over and extended period of time, for instance during an international student exchange.

Longer visits abroad enable students to learn about the geographic, economic and cultural environments of their host country. Culture is here understood broadly, including diverse aspects of culture, such as language, religion, traditions, material culture and society at large. This course gives the student the opportunity to utilize this knowledge as a part of their studies and demonstrate their learning process as well as their increased cultural awareness. The course has the objective to support students' focused engagement with selected aspects of a particular location during an extended stay. This should help the students to develop specific understanding about business contexts, to develop own means of analysis and evaluation thereof and provide them with insights that experiential learning combined with reflection is able to generate, while developing the personal and professional abilities associated with extended foreign stays.
