Learning outcomes

Recent studies suggest that up to 35% of company activity takes place in project mode. The figure is higher for innovation-centred organisations, where RTD (research, technology, development) projects are increasingly organised internationally. This course provides the students the knowledge and tools necessary to manage innovations and the competences needed for managing international innovative projects. After completing the course students are able to:
(1) Define the central concepts of project management in different environments,
(2) Recognize the most important concepts of innovation management in the project context,
(3) Assess how companies manage international/global innovation projects,
(4) Apply project management skills in the context of innovation management,
(5) Select appropriate project management tools and frameworks in order to solve a given case problem,
(6) Apply project management tools in order to produce a project plan,
(7) Develop social and intercultural competence through group work,
(8) Construct an integrative essay on the topics of project and innovation management.


During the course, students learn classic project management concepts, tools and practices in the context of innovation management. The concept of innovation and its role in corporate strategic and project management, particularly in the context of international business is discussed, Participants will be able to focus on specific areas of interest through their assignments or projects.

Evaluation and evaluation criteria

Numeric 0-5.
The grade consists of individual and group work parts: in course individual work (20%), in course / post-course group work (40%), and post course individual written essay (40%).
