Learning outcomes

The students are able to conduct a scenario study by using selected key methods in futures studies. They will learn to gather and analyse data in order to form alternative scenarios of the future of a given topic. Students are able to use research methods independently, seek out relevant research and background data, and formulate research questions. They will learn to report the results of their research in an academic format.

Contents

Prior to the course, students prepare a pre-assignment including an article search and analysis. During the lectures, students are given hands-on instructions on how to use selected methods in futures studies: the Delphi method, CLA (Causal Layered Analysis), and the Futures Table. In groups, students will prepare a study using one of the methods for formulating scenarios on a given topic.
