Learning outcomes

The main objective of the course is to give the doctoral students a multifaceted understanding of qualitative research methods and how they are applied in contemporary studies. The course also intends to increase the students abilities to critically assess different qualitative approaches and their applicability to different types of research problems and designs.


The course addresses a variety of themes starting from the social scientific foundations of qualitative research, different types of qualitative research and how they are applied not only in doing and reporting of the research, but also how they are being assessed in publication processes.
