Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to develop students' knowledge and understanding of international business core theories related to planning, organisation, implementation and control of business operations from a management perspective. The students' readiness to analyse and apply this knowledge in real-life type situations is also developed through case work. After completing the course the students are able to:
(1) describe and explain challenges imposed on business decision makers operating in an international business context,
(2) explain and compare related courses of action regarding internationalisation, market selection and entry, and the organization and management of international business operations,
(3) analyse the strategic choices, operations and organisation of given situations,
(4) apply theories and concepts of international business management to different situations.
(5) analyse the real-life situation and context of a given case organisation,
(6) apply the frameworks and tools of international business strategy to develop a plan of action.
(7) construct a professional written project report
(8) communicate the findings and recommendations in international business management in a convincing, professional way.

The total student workload (160h) consists of:
2 h of introductory lectures
18 h of seminars and tutoring with the course supervisor, including final presentations of the case reports
100 h of Independent case work in teams (finding literature, group meetings, Information gathering, analysis, writing the report)
8 h preparation of presentation of the case work
32 h preparation and taking the exam

Course materials, schedules and reports will be saved in Moodle2. Enroll in KV1 in Moodle2 before the course starts.

Evaluation and evaluation criteria

Numeric 0-5.
Compensation of absence from lectures and seminars required.
