Learning outcomes

This course provides students with an advanced understanding of how to manage and strategize in the context of business networks. After attending the course, students are familiar with the latest theoretical developments in the field and are able to apply this knowledge to solve concrete business challenges.

Contents

This course adopts the network view on business markets and explicates networking as a strategic activity. Thus, planning and implementation of strategic initiatives, for instance, in the form of business model innovation or development of new market offerings requires collaboration among actors in the business network. The lectures are designed to provide students with analytical tools that explain how to manage and strategize in the context of business networks. Students apply these analytical tools to address a real-life business problem provided by an industry partner. In 2018 the industry project is conducted in collaboration with Fazer and relates to building of an innovation ecosystem among actors in the North European food industry.

Teaching methods

Lectures 16h; an industry project.

The course incorporates vising lecturers from business and academia. To facilitate the interactive nature of the course participation is limited to 35 students. Attendance to the lectures is mandatory.
