Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basic concepts, issues, and theories of tourism and hospitality as a significant global industry and topic of academic study. The course will concentrate on the characteristics of the tourism and hospitality companies as well as the multifaceted tourism cluster that is formed by these companies but includes also a wide range of other organizations and actors. After completing the course, students will be familiar with the basic assumptions of the experience economy and understand the development and significance of the tourism and hospitality industry and its linkages to various other industries.

Contents

The course introduces the basic concepts of tourism and hospitality, the characteristics of tourism and hospitality companies and the tourism industry cluster as well as the global tourism and travel organizations.
