Learning outcomes

After the course students will be familiar with globalisation and corporate (social) responsibility, as well as the Millennium and the Sustainable Development Goals (MDGs and SDGs) of UN. Students will understand their contents and the kind of possibilities and challenges they set for companies.


Corporate (social) responsibility is the main framework for companies to respond to the global challenges and uneven development and to either reactively or proactively shape their reputation. (See further information on the course web page.)

Teaching methods

Virtual course. The course is part of the Finnish Universities' Partnership for International Development (UniPid) co-operation.

The course consists of forum discussion, online lectures and written assignments. Assignments can also be written in Finnish.

Attendance is restricted to 70 students (in NettiOpsu). In case of excess demand, priority is given to students majoring in economic geography.
